How To Get Rid Of Dark Lips Naturally

The lip color may vary from person to person & the shade does not indicate which color is healthier & which is not. But yes, the condition of the lip may show you that it needs some pampering & care. Whether it’s a man or woman, having lips naturally pink is the superb asset one can ever have. But unfortunately, after a specific time, the lips’ color might change due to various reasons.

These reasons may be due to medical conditions or certain kinds of lifestyle factors. To make it look more natural, pink & soft, I have curated out the ways by which how you can cure your dark lips so that you can flaunt them well.

1. Sesame Oil

This oil contains an active compound called sesamol, which causes inhibition of the biosynthesis of melanin. Since melanin is the main reason for pigmentation, melanin production inhibition prevents lip darkening.

How To Use:
Take some amount of sesame oil & apply it on your lips. Leave it until the lips thoroughly soak the oil within it. Reapply the oil on the lip surface if necessary. You can perform this twice or thrice in a day.

2. Cucumber Juice

It is rich in silica-rich compounds & anti-oxidants. These compounds help to fade away the pigmentation resulting in the lightening of dark lips.

How To Use:
Take some slices of cucumber & grind them off. Make it in a paste-like consistency & apply this paste on the lip surface. Leave the paste for 10-15 minutes & wash out with normal water. Use this 1-2 times a day.

3. Lemon & Honey

Lemon is rich in citric acid & this is the reason why citrus fruits have skin lightening properties. When combined with honey, it increases the effect of lemon by helping to add some smoothness to the lips.

How To Use:
Take a teaspoon of both honey & lemon juice & mix them. Apply it to your lips & leave it off for 15-20 mins. Rinse with normal water. You can use this once a day. Lemon juice may result in a tingling sensation over sensitive skin. Before applying this pack, please do a patch test.

4. Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera contains a compound, aloin, which have depigmenting properties. Due to this reason, it helps to fade the pigmentation present over your lips.

How To Use:
Draw out the fresh aloe vera gel from the leaf about half of a teaspoon. Apply this gel on your lips & then rinse it with water. This you may do twice every day.

5. Turmeric


The main component of turmeric is curcumin. This compound helps to inhibit melanin formation, which, in turn, lightens your lips.

How To Use:
Take a teaspoon of turmeric & add a little amount of water to it. Mix it until it becomes a thick paste. Apply this paste on your lips & allow it to dry. Then wash your lips thoroughly with water. You can try this once a day. Turmeric may have proved allergic to some people. So before proceeding, please do a patch test.

6. Coconut Oil

It has moisturizing & emollient properties that can keep your lips supple & soft. It also helps prevent them from getting darker & drier, which may happen when the skin dehydrates.

How To Use:
Take some amount of virgin coconut oil on your index finger & evenly spread over your lips. Leave it until the lips become dry. There is no need of washing with water. Let the lips soak this oil properly. Repeat this once or twice a day.
