You must have seen essential oils are used at the spa or for room fragrance at maximum places. But do you know that essential oils are also used to treat hair? 1. Lavender Essential Oil


Researchers on one animal study claim that lavender oil can promote faster hair growth & have the properties of reducing stress & faster growth of the cells. This oil also possesses antibacterial & anti-microbial properties that help to maintain the scalp’s health.

Take a carrier oil like melted coconut oil or olive oil & mix several drops of lavender oil to it. Apply this mixture of oils to your scalp & leave it off for 10 mins. Wash it thoroughly, or you can use shampoo as you normally wash your hair. You can perform this several times a week.

2. Rosemary Essential Oil


Rosemary oil has the ability to improve cellular generation. That is the reason why rosemary oil is the best choice if you want both hair thickness & hair growth. According to a study, a common hair growth treatment was performed with rosemary & minoxidil. Rosemary oil showed less scalp itching as compared to minoxidil.

Mix several drops of rosemary oil to the carrier oil like olive oil or coconut oil. Apply this oil mixture to the scalp & leave it for 10-15 minutes before shampooing. You can use it twice a week for best results.

3. Thyme Essential Oil


Thyme actively participates in hair growth by preventing hair loss & stimulating the scalp. This is why thyme oil has been proved helpful against certain conditions like alopecia areata. Thyme oil is the strongest oil, among other essential oils.

Take two tablespoons of carrier oil & mix a few drops of cedarwood essential oil to it. Apply & massage it on your scalp & leave for 10-15 minutes, then wash it off by shampooing.

5. Tea Tree Essential oil


The best part of this essential oil is that it can easily unplug hair follicles & improves hair growth. It has antimicrobial, antibacterial & amazing cleansing effects. It is available in the market at a variety of concentrations; some of them are highly concentrated while others are mixed in oil or cream.

According to a review in 2015, tea tree has been found effective & is commonly used as anti-dandruff treatment products. You can mix up a few drops of tea tree essential oil to the shampoo or conditioner you use daily.

Or, take two tablespoons of carrier oil & mix three drops of tea tree oil to it & apply to the scalp. Leave it for 15-20 minutes before rinsing.

6. Peppermint Essential Oil


Peppermint oil has been found to cause a somewhat cold & tingling sensation over the area where it is applied. This property helps to improve hair growth during its growing(anagen) phase.

Studies found that peppermint boosts up the follicle depth, number of follicles & hair growth. You can mix carrier oil of your choice with two drops of peppermint oil & massage on your scalp. Leave it for 5-10 minutes & rinse it properly with shampoo.

7. Lemongrass Essential Oil


For hair health, it must be dandruff free & flake-free. A study performed in 2015 found that lemongrass oil drastically reduced dandruff after a week. For the best results, you can use this essential oil daily.

You can mix it up a few drops of lemongrass essential oil to the conditioner or shampoo daily. Make sure to massage for some time over your scalp.
